When Is Hunting Season?
Here in Gallatin County, the hunting season is broken down into parts—archery and general hunting. You can only hunt with a bow during archery season, and it runs from September 2 to October 15. The general hunting season is when you use rifles, and it starts October 21 and goes until November 26. Youth hunting takes place during the gap between these two seasons.

The state of Montana is divided into seven administrative regions by Montana’s Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. Big Sky resides in Region 3, about 18000 square miles, 40% private land, and the rest public.
