Getting to the West Yellowstone Entrance
The West Yellowstone Entrance is open year-round, so you can always get your fill of outdoor adventures! From The Wilson Hotel, the drive to the gate is less than an hour.
West Yellowstone Entrance Address
- Head south on Huntley Drive
- At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit and stay on Huntley Drive
- Turn right onto Lone Mountain Trail
- Turn right onto US-191 S/Gallatin Rd
- Continue to follow US-191 S
- Turn left onto US-191 S/US-20 E/US-287
To avoid lines at the gate and high-traffic times, refer to the live webcam. It broadcasts conditions at the entrance all day long.
West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center
Upon arrival at the West Yellowstone entrance, stop by the Visitor Center. The center is open year-round and staffed by the West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce. Speak to helpful park rangers and inquire about backcountry permits, fishing permits, maps, and more. Be sure to ask them for predictions on Old Faithful’s next eruption, as well as predictions of other geyser eruptions. You can also use the restrooms before entering the park.
